The short version: we collect what the app needs to work, we don't sell it, and you can have all of it deleted by emailing hello@joinlikeminds.com.
Right now, before launch
If you preregister, we store your email address and which page you signed up from. It's used for exactly two things: one email when LikeMinds launches, and contacting you if you win the launch giveaway. Reply to any email — or write to us — and we'll take you off the list.
When you use the app
- Account basics — your email, display name, username, and birthday. Your birthday powers age-appropriate matching; you control whether your age shows on your profile.
- Sports and skill levels — what you tell us you play, used to match you with people.
- Location — the area you pick at signup. Other users only ever see a label at the precision you allow (suburb, city, region — or nothing) and a distance like "3.2 km". Your position is used to compute that distance, never shown.
- Messages — stored encrypted on our servers. Only the people in a conversation can read them.
- Usage events — small product signals like "signup completed" that tell us which parts of the app work. They contain no message contents and no names.
What we don't do
We don't sell your data. We don't share it with advertisers. Your email address is never shown to other users anywhere in the app.
Where your data lives
Our servers and database are hosted in Australia. Some supporting services — email delivery, image hosting — are provided by companies that operate internationally.
Your choices
Email hello@joinlikeminds.com to ask what we hold about you, or to have it permanently deleted. A human reads that inbox.
This is a plain-English summary written while LikeMinds is in early access. A fuller formal policy will ship alongside the public app-store release.
